James, I think the serial number reference on the Browning website is screwy, especially for early guns. 5V is a 1965 12 ga Magnum. Starting in 1968 the numbers went to 2 digits (68V) because they had used 8v already for the first year of production in 1958. So, your 69V is a 1969 gun.
