We visited Powerscourt gardens for the first time in late October. The walled gardens still had a colourful display of flowers and shrubs, the trees were in wonderful autumn shades and the Japanese gardens were delightful with the Acers looking very attractive. Luckily it was a fine day and the views from the back of the house across the gardens to the Wicklow Mountains beyond (at least I think they are the Wicklow Mountains - forgive me if my Irish geography is not up to par) is worth the modest entry fee.
