If you think it might be a rod bearing, pull the filter cut it open, unroll the filter media and take a look for metal, you can also order an oil sample kit, take the sample send it in and it will also tell the tale, if its a bearing. Once you remove that hub then you can see the cam gear and pin. It might be fine, and your issue is just the hub in front of it. Shut it off as soon as possible. Have it towed. Continuing to drive the truck wil allow the balancer to slip on the crank and it can play hell on the nose of the crank and the inside of the balancer. About 2 weeks ago on the way to work the truck started bucking violently and died. Pulled codes and got p0366 crank sensor. Took it to a mechanic I know and he replaced crank sensor. It still throws the code after clearing it when cranking. We are getting power and signal from both the crank and cam sensor.
