Proof marks mostly. I’ve been meaning to take the time to learn more on them but the 3 (or maybe 4) digit number in the barrel is the barrel’s serial number. From what I’ve seen barrels aren’t serialized with the receivers but I could have only seen replacements too. If anyone has a good resource I’d love to see it

Most 55 rifles had dated covers, but rifles late in the series stopped getting dated covers when they apparently decided to discontinue the practice for 56 riles.

The others were examples that I think the importer somehow missed applying a mark. I own one SKS with no import marks - a 1978 Yugo 59/66. However, on a Russian SKS the rifle markings would be on the top cover. It looks like the top cover is blank, or void of markings. My guess is that it is infact a russian SKS that has been recently imported as a refinished surplus rifle, much like the recent nagants, but the top cover has been replaced with a non Russian top cover. Hope this helps.Most original Russian SKS slings have arsenal markings and some are dated as well. Not unusual but a nice feature. If all numbers don't match than I guess its a Frankenstein sks (but who cares) they are fun guns to shoot . But look at the back of the dust cover near the lever and see if any markings are present .
