Federal does the same thing with their 20S1. There are also loads for the 20 gauge Remington RXP 20 gauge wad. The only wad I know currently being made for 20 gauge with the longer 1 ounce shot cup are the Remington SP20's. For what it's worth I have patterned some 1 ounce loads using Remington's SP20 and their RXP20. Didn't notice any difference.The WAA20 OEM wad also takes up too much room. It really depends on what powder you're using, and consequently the volume, if you're using Unique, you're in trouble, if you're using WSF you have more options. The STS 20 is probably the most difficult hull to find a suitable alternative for, unless you're using a very dense powder.

Replacing the SP 12 with another Rem wad may be a tad difficult. The RP 12 is also a 1-1/4 oz. wad, but is a bit shorter and would require the use of a bulky powder to get a good fit, or possibly a filler wad. I have at least 1,ooo RP20 wads to use in the Winchester 20 AA. This is the only wad that works with the 1 1/8 oz. load without an excessive amount of wad pressure. I often use the "newer" Remington one piece 2 3/4 inch casing with 800-X powder and 1 1/8 oz. of shot. You can get away with Bismuth in the Rem and Win hulls with the right powder and wads. I personally just shoot 3/4 oz steel in 2 3/4" hulls but that takes Steel powder to get the speed needed.

You probably need the SP20 due to the greatly increased volume of bismuth (it looks like they use a 1oz lead wad for 7/8oz of bismuth). There is no question whatsoever about the WAA20F1. It was a 20 gauge yellow wad with a short leg section and intended for 1 ounce loads. That does not mean that with some combinations it could not be used with 7/8 or even 1-1/8 ounce loadings.
