Lvl ups gets more complicated but as a base line I'd take: lvl2: explosive punch. Lvl 3: Blunt force. Make sure to start with the Boots of Striding. Only the Brute needs these more than the Cragheart. Movement is still tight at level 1, but since you have lots of ranged attacks it should be OK. Try not to use Massive Boulder for the move unless you really have to—the top is just too good.
